Do you feel fat and frumpy? Or do you feel more like a beautiful, sexy pregnant woman?
I know, I know - you're probably rolling your eyes! But, really, it's not as far-fetched as it sounds. Luckily, nowadays you DO NOT have to feel uncomfortable and unattractive your entire 9 months, there are some very simple SECRETS to the ART OF LOOKING (AND FEELING) GREAT DURING PREGNANCY.
Here's What I Learned About Dressing UP a Pregnant Belly
1. Choose Bigger Sizes
Get regular clothes in 1 or 2 sizes bigger than you would normally wear. This WILL allow you to dress funky, stay in style and feel good about the way you look until you're ready to fit into the maternity clothes (depending on your body, I'd say around 4 months).
My favorite outfit was a one-piece trendy sweat outfit - I bought it in a large, I normally take a small! It was great because the waist was loose, slightly elastic, with a drawstring so I could adjust it and stretch it - I wore it up until I was 6 months!
2. Below the Belly is IN
Choose low-waisted pants. I bought a pair of black low-waisted stretch pants that lasted me quite a while. The best item that I bought was a stretchy black, low-waisted skirt that lasted me my whole pregnancy because it sat right below my belly (I also wore it A LOT after I delivered - until I lost a lot of my baby weight).
Low-rise is in - take advantage of it, it's the perfect fit for a pregnant tummy!
3. Flaunt that Belly Baby!
Choose fitted tops that show off your belly (don't hide your body!). Your pregnant belly is beautiful - show it off! If fitted isn't your style - that's OK - but trying to cover up in over-sized shirts will only make you look bigger. Really!
4. Quality is Key
Invest a little money on some key pregnancy pieces such as a white blouse, black pants, black skirt, jeans etc. Good quality products should be adjustable and fit you for most of your pregnancy. Make sure you go where the sales people are knowledgeable - my first pair of pants that I was "wrongly" advised to buy, fit me for a whole TWO weeks!
